After the elections Germany is, once again, discussing about legalizing cannabis. The chances are good that it will go through. From a criminological perspective: the right step. From a health policy point of view: a paradox. Let’s get it finally over with so that we can talk about the real problem of our drug policies.

The escalation of the Dutch drug conflict has triggered the discussion if the country has become a Narco State. Is neighbouring Germany running the danger of a similar fate? The answer is: yes, it is. But there are at least three lessons Germany can learn from the Netherlands to prevent this.
